72% Of Total Consumers Are Looking For More Flexible Online Retailers

Economic downturn is affecting the purchasing decision of online consumers and demanding flexible options from retailers. According to a survey commissioned by NCR Corporation, 72% of consumers are looking for flexible online retailers and 53% consumers do research about products and services frequently. 46% consumers want to receive price comparison, new product details, and coupons through online and 49% of users frequently shift between the retailers to gain better value.

No Meaningful Correction in Hyderabad Real Estate Prices

Real estate price corrections in Hyderabad being prevented by extensive market inefficiencies, cartels and unscrupulous business practices.

In a free market economy, demand and supply create a check on unrealistic prices – at least that is what theory says. So when demand is less, then prices should fall.  This is not happening in Hyderabad, though the real estate market has been down for over a year.  The correction in pricing has been minimal compared to the unrealistic growth in prices earlier (for several years).  Plus, it has not factored in and reduced prices because of the new reality – the reduced number of buyers today and the buying power of the current buyers.

Overpriced Internet And Low Speeds Prevent Broadband Growth In India

In the area of broadband, India has a lot of catching up to do. According to Point Topic, India has fewer broadband connections than Hong Kong, a region it out-populates by nearly a billion people. Broadband penetration is estimated to be around 0.5% in India. YoY Retail E-Commerce Spending Seizes Negative Growth

US retail e-commerce spending in Q1-2009 recovered from 3 percent negative growth YoY when compared to Q4-2008. According to ComScore, retail e-commerce sales remained flat when compared to Q1-2008, as they recovered slightly from the immediate previous quarter. Sports & Fitness is the fastest growing category online followed by Books & Magazine in dollar sales.

Historic Trends

If the data provided by ComScore is observed, year 2007 had better growth rates YoY, when compared to 2008. This is mainly due to the positive environment in the economy and high consumer confidence. Q2 and Q3 maintained the highest growth rates till now (Q1-2009) with 23 percent each YoY. It can be observed that Q4, which is crucial for the businesses for the entire year, didn’t had the highest YoY growth rate when compared to Q3.
