A Review Of The Nomad GPS Tracking Solution
GPS Tracking systems were developed in the 1970s by the United States Department of Defence, GPS Technology was then designed to help improve tracking of targets such as vehicles or people.
Following the tragic events of 9/11 in New York, the demand for GPS tracking in handheld devices such as Cell (Mobile) phones and two-way radios increased so that people were able to communicate and trace others in a crisis situation.
GPS Enabled Two-Way Radios
In the last couple of years, where communications have become of increased importance, certain two-way radios now have the capability to act as a GPS transmitter. This means that, not only can you hold a two way conversation on the radio but you can also be tracked by a central control team and in the unfortunate event of a crisis use it as a panic alert device.
This is how NOMAD was born.
Nomad Tracking Solution is basically a MOTOTRBO radio system with an inbuilt GPS transmitter and panic button. The extensive applications of Nomad redefine Risk Management solutions.
Nomad transforms your Motorola Mototrbo digital radio into a state of the art hand held tracking and crisis management solution. Combining the versatility and low cost of radio technology with a tracking and emergency alert capability, Nomad is ideal for close protection teams, security, infrastructure, perimeter and maritime security and remote workers who might be presented with hostile situations.
The Nomad risk management and tracking system is a solution that comprises of multiple Mototrbo radio handsets, each handset providing the user with personal tracking, a panic button and voice communication.
Complete integration of the Nomad system into a web-based tracking platform allows operations teams to monitor all Nomad radio users on one common picture from anywhere in the world. This means that no matter where your team or troops are deployed you can easily monitor high risk situations as long as the radio and GPS transmitter remains intact and powered on.
Tracking
Each Nomad handset has an built in GPS tracking receiver that transmits its exact location back to a master handset at a central command post. The frequency of the recorded position reporting can be remotely programmed from the central managed console, from 30 second intervals upwards. Nomad is a radio-based tracking solution which means that there is no associated ‘air-time’ costs associated with the running of the system. This makes the system cost effective as it is license free. It works on a back to back radio system utilising GPS satellites for global tracking.
Panic alarm
A nice feature of the Nomad handset is the integrated panic button. This discrete alarm button, once activated transmits an audible and visual alert on the master handset and the web based tracking platform. You can also opt to receive a notification of the alarm via e-mail and SMS text to a mobile phone to nominated recipients. This panic alarm button helps the end user to alert a central communications / operations team that has the technology, through the Track24 C4i platform, to monitor each individual GPS enabled handset out in the field.
Track24 is a leading provider of global tracking and Solutions allowing companies to avoid crisis through improved risk management.
